Hi

My name is Chris and I live in Surrey UK. I am married to Steve. We have three children and have been married for 34 years. We also have two grandchildren. After having an accident three years ago I no longer work full time. My husband and I are building a house near Calpe and hope to live there for the part of the year when it is completed. I have some questions and hope someone who has lived in the area for sometime can help me.

welcome aboard from another newbie.
Strangely enough we visited Calpe in February this year, by a nice new train from Alicante to Benidorm station, then changed on to a boneshaking rickety connection to Calpe. I mean seriously shoogly, in Scottish parlance !
We found that Calpe station is about 2Km from the sea, quite high up the hillside,so you do get an immediate aerial view of the town, but we will use the car again the next time we visit !
As we walked down through the town we really liked the feel of it and had a nice reasonably priced Spanish lunch in a big shopping centre about half way to the coast.
After that we did not feel like walking much further and made our way to the bus station just up the road, where we didn't have to wait long until a lovely new luxury coach arrived and wafted us back to Alicante, via Benidorm's staggering new bus terminal then a scenic trip through Beni by night.
As for building a house, I can't advise at this point in the depression, but good luck with your new venture anyway.

welcome to the forum Chris, one person on the forum that will have good knowledge of Calpe is ColinS. Probably one of the best people to ask on here at the moment.
